چکیده

We present a biologically inspired approach to the dynamic assignment and reassignment of a swarm of homogeneous robots to multiple locations, with applications in search and rescue, environmental monitoring, and task allocation. Our work is inspired by experimental studies of ant house hunting and empirical models that predict the behavior of the colony that is faced with a choice between multiple candidate nests. In this work, we build on the results of [1] and present a method to optimize stochastic control policies for the dynamic redistribution of a swarm of agents among multiple sites in a specified ratio to account for navigation delays. The stability and convergence properties of these control policies are analyzed and simulation results are presented.

A New Solution for the Cyclic Multiple-Part Type Three-Machine Robotic Cell Problem based on the Particle Swarm Meta-heuristic

In this paper, we develop a new mathematical model for a cyclic multiple-part type threemachine robotic cell problem. In this robotic cell a robot is used for material handling. The objective is finding a part sequence to minimize the cycle time (i.e.; maximize the throughput) with assumption of known robot movement. The developed model is based on Petri nets and provides a new method to calcul...

Study of Evolutionary and Swarm Intelligent Techniques for Soccer Robot Path Planning

Finding an optimal path for a robot in a soccer field involves different parameters such as the positions of the robot, positions of the obstacles, etc. Due to simplicity and smoothness of Ferguson Spline, it has been employed for path planning between arbitrary points on the field in many research teams. In order to optimize the parameters of Ferguson Spline some evolutionary or intelligent al...

Particle Swarm Optimization Based Parameter Identification Applied to a Target Tracker Robot with Flexible Joint

This paper focuses on parameter identification of a target tracker robot possessing flexible joints using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Since, belt and pulley mechanisms are known as flexible joints in robotic systems, their elastic behavior affecting a tracker robot is investigated in this work. First, dynamic equations governing the robot behavior are extracted taking into acco...

Pareto design of fuzzy tracking control based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm for a walking robot in the lateral plane on slope

Many researchers have controlled and analyzed biped robots that walk in the sagittal plane. Nevertheless, walking robots require the capability to walk merely laterally, when they are faced with the obstacles such as a wall. In walking robot field, both nonlinearity of the dynamic equations and also having a tracking system cause an effective control has to be utilized to address these problems...

Ant-Inspired Allocation: Top-Down Controller Design for Distributing A Robot Swarm among Multiple Tasks

We present a decentralized, scalable, communication-less approach to the dynamic allocation of a swarm of homogeneous robots to multiple sites in specified fractions. This strategy has applications in surveillance, search-and-rescue, environmental monitoring, and other task allocation problems. Our work is inspired by an experimentally based model of ant house-hunting, a decentralized process i...
